I’ve used Backlinks Genie for a couple of months now are here are some of my experiences.
BLG’s automated blog commenting – is somewhat anemic, lacking power and you could use Scrapebox to do the same kind of thing but of course with some manual effort (minor). That’s my opinion based on using this feature on a site not well optimized for a pluralization of a keyword that was in the domain name . One the site I tested BLG was sending out 500 comments for links/day and site currently has 983 links to it according to Yahoo Site Explorer, is ranked #3 for its main term, and went from Page 2 /3 to page 1, position 8 (currently) for the single kw/term/anchor text I used this for a test on.
NOTE: I sorta “gamed” the test to make it hard for BLG comments to work because I wanted to see just how much power these links could have. If they could rank the aforementioned site for a term it wasn’t properly optimized for (singular version of a pluralized keyword in exact match domain) then that means these links were powerful, but they’re not THAT powerful but they do work to a decent degree.
Note 2: Another tester/user of BLG who used the commenting feature said it works well and here are his results:
- Used commenting for 1 month
- BEFORE: Ranked around 100 for 10 different keywords
- AFTER: In top 20 for all 10 keywords now
BLG’s Profile link wheels sound like a great idea, but it’s kind of not worth it. The whole idea behind using profiles link wheel link building from high PR sites is to build links to other profiles urls, so one url links to the other thereby getting the next one indexed when the previous one gets indexed and since these links are on high PR sites, someday there will be link juice passed down form main site to your profile then that profile will pass PR or link juice towards the profile urls they’re linking to. The major caveat here is that this leaves a centralized point of failure, so if some profiles urls get deleted, then the chain has been broken the PR and link juice passage is broken and you’re left with simple plain direct links from high PR sites, which is nothing rare or hard to acquire via other means.
NOTE: With high PR forum profile links, the alleged value is in getting more powerful links, but the major downside is that you are only allowed to generate like 60/day of these with BLG and with a certain percentage that’s always going to be deleted, the chain is surely going to be broken and you’re better off skipping this “fancy pants” style of linking and just focus more on more numerous direct links.
BLG’s Web 2.0 submissions - This is where I think BLG shines, because it’s doing something different here, they’re taking Web 2.0 posting to another level with their re-posting feature. If you’ve ever used tools like SEO Link robot or Rank Builder or SE nuke to build Web 2.0 sites, then you know that your web 2.0s get deleted after a while.
If you’ve ever built your Web 2.0s manually like I have done, then you know that adding more content to them makes them seem less like bot-created “sites” therefore they tend to get deleted at a far lower rate than the bot created sites do.
With BLG’s re-posting to Web 2.0 accounts created for you, you’re getting the best of both worlds because you’re creating Web 2.0s that get created well, get created automatically, remain UN-deleted, and the links stick. And like I mentioned before, if you build Web 2.0s manually then re-post to them to add more content not only do your sites remain present and indexed, but they eventually gain some passed-down Page Rank form the authority of the main domains they reside on, thereby creating powerful backlinks (ones with PR and link juice).
In my opinion, it’s far better to build less sites/links that remain UN deleted so they end up passing on higher quality links. This is a long-term view that appeals to me…
Latest Feature from Backlinks Genie - they have 2 new features one of which is the Web 2.0 re-posts mentioned earlier and the other one is a combo deal whereby they combine all of their features into a 3-day “surge” of links.
BLG link surge includes/is…
- 15 Web 2.0 sites created
- 60 of the PR-ed profile s(link wheels)
- 500 comments to specified urls
Once again what Backlinks Genie offers for 199/month
500 comments links/day, OR
60 PR4 Profile slink wheel slinks generated, OR
15 Web 2.0 sites/subdomains created, OR
15 Web 2.0 sites, posted to again
You can schedule these different things to run using the weekday planner scheduler thing they have to maintain stricter control over what’s happening when.
Do I recommend this? Yes, but only for certain types of people/situations
Here’s the REAL benefits of using BLG…
1- Easy to use, interface is clear
2- No software to run, no proxies to buy
3- Hardly any writing needed, if so the only part would be to upload spun content for the web 2.0 sites
4- Allows you to build Web 2.0 sites that do NOT get deleted at the riduclous rate the other programs do, and allows you to build out a true web 2.0 inbound link empire via fleshed out sites that got content re-posted to them thereby creating traffic-generating entities not just link sources…
5- Provides downloadable file for urls generated
Who may want this/need this/benefit from this?
Non tech-savvy types who don’t want to mess with bots, captchas, desktop software, renting proxies etc…
Local SEO types who wanna show their clients that they did, indeed generate backlinks for them (clients) in myriad ways.
People who only have a few sites and want to ensure they’re building links that stick and who also want to (wisely I might add) build a variety of link types to shore up the balance of links for the destination sites inbound link profile.
Downside to this…
For 199/month this is definitely a hefty price tag for some people, and if you put together a hodge-podge SEO toolkit of desktop applications and bots, you MIGHT be able to do the same things for a lot less, but not many tools do the web 2.0 re-posting which is my favorite part of BLG. What’s your time worth, though?
If you get this you will love the simplicity of the scheduler and the overall easy to navigate interface.
Backlinks Genie Best Practices Guide:
Step 1- Build 15 web 2.0 websites, link them to money sites
Step 2- Use the high PR profiles link wheels to link to money sites
Step 3- Use the comments for indexing and building link juice towards your Web 2.0 sites from step 1
Step 4- Use the comments for indexing and building link juice towards your profiles urls sites from step 2
Step 5 – more profiles urls links to web 2.0 sites
Step 6- Re-post to the web 2.0s
step 7- Blog comments to money sites
Step 8- assessment time,
- build more web 2.0s?
- re-post to older ones?

Looks good. Can we change the domains at will or is it locked to one domain at a time. Guess il check that out on their website. I’ll buy this from your link Daniel, if I do buy. Thanks
Yea, it’s totally interchangeable, you can hit 1000 domains a month if you
Hi daniel, i thought the link wheels were random and not a “wheel”
The link to moneysite or whatever, then i think it was 2 random links
to other profiles.. hmmmm
If that’s the case, then that’s better than the signature surge daisy chaining method, and a true wheel of sorts.
No matter though, I think it’s a bit of a waste of money for 199/month to be using BLG to link to links it created that might not be there anymore. In my opinion, you/we are better off direct linking to money sites and doing other stuff to ensure that the profiles links are indexed
Dan, I love your site and have found it extremely useful and beneficial! One of the best.
We have followed your recommendations religiously regarding LinxBoss, BMR, UAW, and DFB, but there are a few exceptions. Backlinks Genie has been one of those exceptions. I do agree that overall BLG is pricey, but the Web2.0 component and scheduling automation is where we’re finding the biggest value. Plus clients seem to be much happier with their reporting. As you mentioned, the stick rate is fairly high for Web2 compared to other tools we use (SENuke/BMD). We tend to hit the Web2 with DFB versus the BLG profile/commenting tool.
My opinion is that none of these tools does everything well so we try to find the sweet spot for each tool and then collectively use them as one cohesive suite. When one tool loses effectiveness we can plugin a replacement pretty easily. The downside is that this all comes at a cost, but with our client work and portfolio of 800 domains it seems to be paying for itself.
I give BLG a cautionary thumbs up.
Dan, thanks for the feedback… It took me a while to see exactly what value the blog commenting links had, and for the PR profile link wheels too. I did so some test with the Web 2.0 stuff and I am pretty happy with the stick rate there, so that’s probably what I’m going to use it mostly for, moving forward.
The reason I mentioned using the blog commenting feature to index and boost the Web 2.0s is someone looking at this could only afford this one tool. I’ll probably use Link Juice Maximizer or DFB to boost the BLG Web 2.0s at some point though
Dan,
Based on your case study, I might take a stab at BLG , because my personal backlinking budget is around $200. However, I was wondering if you think spending 200 could be invested toward backlinks elsewhere. For example, purchasing LinkBoss for $127, and using the rest the money outsourcing content and placing on web 2.0 sites. I know there are many ways to use $200 for backlinking, just wanted to your opinion on how effectively I could use that money. Currently my backlink strategy has been outsourcing content and distributing that content at article directories, and web 2.0 blogs. I’m getting a slight ROI with this strategy, but I’m might be wearing myself thin because I’m spreading this strategy across 10 sites. So I guess my question is should I go with another strategy(linxboss, BLG, etc), or just stay with my current backlink strategy, and minimize the amount of sites i’m working on.
Thanks again
Paul
Paul, I would focus on fewer sites at a time, attain those rankings, solidify them, bulletproof the sites, then move on to next batch of sites.
There’s more ROI to be had from moving from page 1, position 8 to page 1, position 1-3 than there is trying to get page 2 ranked sites to page 1. I’ve seen triple/quadruple earnings increases when some types of sites of mine move up from #3 to #1 and when that happened that justifies the “overkill” of solidifying/bulletproofing the sites some more. The way I see it, you gotta put in a lot of effort sometimes just to get to page 1 or page 1 position 1, so might as well do whatever you did to get there just for a little while longer to ensure that it’s not a temporary Google Dance bounce ranking but a solid one. That way you can somewhat securely move on to the next site(s).
Hi Dan,
Love your site, reviews, advice, etc.
Now that you have used BacklinksGenie for a while, can you comment on whether you would continue recommending a combination of LinxBoss + BuildMyRank over BacklinksGenie? Or would getting all 3 be redundant????
Cheers,
Tom
Hey Tom, thanks for the feedback and question.
Linx Boss is slow and steady, BMR is good supplement to it, BLG is sort of a tool/service like Linx Boss that is good for a minimal amount of sites. I spent 2k on BMR posts last month, but used them to work on some other sites that are new, and not getting links from LB and BLG.
BLG gives you spammy commenting links not very valuable except for getting things indexed; the better value to this tool seems to be with its Web 2.0 creations, and re-posting to them and of lower value is the profiles linking thing. BLG is good for people with a few sites, same as LinxBoss, so really the answer is, it wouldn’t hurt to add in more link sources if you can afford it, but really it all depends on you, the number of sites you have etc…
I’d hate to see people spending gobs of money every month in an attempt to ranks gobs of sites every month. I think it’s best to focus on 5 sites at a time and get them well-ranked then either replace those campaign urls in BLG or Linx Boss or BMR with new sites to build links to.
BLG, like Linxboss is a high-priced tool due to its automation and convenience, therefore I still think LinxBoss and BMR combo is best way to go for most people since it has inherent mix of total automation and some manual work (if you write the BMR posts yourself).
Please let me know if this helps answer your question, it’s kinda tough to answer without knowing your situation, budget, number of sites etc…
Hi Dan,
Thanks a lot for the reply…
I have 4 of my own sites, and 6 client sites, all of them have PR2 or greater, all are at least 2 years old, and all are high-quality content sites (no garbage content, scraping, AdSense, etc.). I have a few more potential clients in the wings, plus current clients who want to attack more keywords and/or additional sites.
At the moment, my clients’ sites are higher priority than my own. None of their sites are in overly-competitive niches: for most keywords I’m targeting for clients, the #1-ranked competitors have ~1500-4000 links to domain (Yahoo), but rarely well-optimized on-page, nor even all that many on-target anchor text links.
I’ve been using RankBuilder, but it’s just way too frustrating. Used to use SENuke, but that was quite some time ago and was way too buggy as well (at least at that time). I currently also have some Filipinos building links… but BLG’s set-it-and-forget-it approach definitely is appealing AS LONG AS IT WORKS as advertised. Based on my experiences with SENuke and RankBuilder, I’m learning to become a bit more skeptical whether things work as well as the salesletter claims.
I’m pretty good at spinning content so it doesn’t read “spun” but it takes at least a couple hours. So I’m willing to pay more for tools that can free up more of my time. Including my workers, I’ve been paying ~$350-$450 per month, so I guess I could divert that budget to other tools/resources if they will do a better job.
Or should I be looking at a combo of scripts, bots, and services instead? I hate hassling with overly-technical stuff, especially if they break down all the time — or if I can simply pay a bit extra for (almost) push-button convenience.
Obviously, the clients want results ASAP… but what’s definitely even more important for both them and me is long-term, lasting rankings. (ie. getting them to Top 10 ASAP, and then slowly moving them up to the #1 spots for their primary keywords)
Cheers,
Tom
What about DripFeedBlasts vs. LinkJuiceMaximizer vs. some other product/service for indexing and boosting Tier 2 & 3 sites?
Tom
Good question, I’m starting to think DFB might be better off as a boosting/indexing/linkjuice kind of tool but I really DO like BacklinkBooster which is low priced and has features that auto-check for links existence and if the URLs boosted become DE-indexed, it also checks for that, and auto-re-boosts those urls. I’m sometimes inclined to think that indexing backlinks is such a lot of work that could be put towards creating links that stick all on their own, for a long time but those don’t come in large numbers easily, so once again I like to use something automated that doesn’t create even more work for myself, and working on indexing backlinks..MAN! once you start it tends to dig you into a deeper manpower “hole” that’s hard to get out of.
But to answer your question, for boosting links DFB or LJM would be fine, but LJM is closed, DFB has raised prices, and neither of them (as far as I know) will auto-re-boost re-index your backlinks AND check for existence for same price as Backlink booster
Hi Dan,
Did you happen to miss my longer reply & additional questions in response to your earlier post (3 posts above)? Just double-checking…
I have had tons of success with Backlinks-Genie. I have used it for 2 months, every site that I have hit hard with the blog comments and then added their profile links too has worked really well. I am wondering if any one else has experienced this as well?
I read most of your recommendations and they are very interesting….For BLG I understood your strategy steps and the actions that needs to be taken..but I am kind on lost on when to do what…so can you please take few mins of your time and explain these based on timeline ?
Can you give me some tips on how I can get a wordpress out of the google sandbox? Should I use backlinks genie or linx boss to do my link building for this sandboxed blog?
Hi John, thanks for the question and opportunity to help
1- Change on-page SEO a little bit, like change title of site albeit temporarily
2- Add new content, to send spiders back more frequently
3- Stay consistent with the link building, and spread out the links more (homepage + inner urls)
Thank you Dan. What do you mean by consistent? If you had to pick one, should I use backlinks genie or linx boss for the link building?
Pick both!
linx boss gets you 200 blog links for 5 different websites, and it also builds back links to your back links, it also has great tools to show your rankings per keyword and how it has changed!
Backlinks Genie has tons of different type of links, and can now be used in connection with linklicious.me and soon other back link services. Backlinks Genie is also going to have future services.
I would suggest both!
Boss seems ok for getting new sites started or livenng up old sites that have slipped.
Genie is almost an “all in one” tool that will push a lot out.
For the $199 a month – you’re going to want to get value for it though! Definitely schedule 25+ projects. But if you’re building a dozen sites a month – this is an ideal tool.
Horses for courses – use both at the same time – or when appropriate.
If you have just one or two sites i’d get boss first, then switch to genie after 3-4 months. But then I’d use a ton of other methods as well to get more links and more importantly to give the links you are getting more “oomph”
Scritty
I’m surprised that Backlinks Genie hasn’t made more noise in the IM market yet. I took this for a test drive and it is fantastic. Maybe because it’s still relatively new, but it’s almost as close to a 1 stop shop as you’re going to get, with the ease of use all from 1 control panel. So much flexibility it gives you to build and promote multi-tiered backlinking structures….like you said though, the $199/month is still a pretty penny to pay, even with all that BLG offers.
Dan, you had mentioned a discount coming soon. Any idea when and how much of a discount that will be?
Hi Daniel,
I have been reading your reviews on BLG, and am interested in this product. However, often then not, whats holding customers back from purchasing is the cost. I am similar situation as some commenters here, with a $200 budget. Now the 1st question would be, how would u compare BLG to the im advantage (product by steven clayton)? I know that is not an automation tool, its more of a resource platform. But that has a $97/month that has a lot more various of tools.
Now I dont know if you are well aware of IMA, but I am just trying to learn to get a good BL builder (for long term), with a $200 budget.
I dont know how effective it is lets say if i do 5k blog commenting a month, and as you said here, that its not effective for ranking wise. But is it worth $200/ month just for the web2.0 re-posting feature?
Lets say I get BLG, what more tools should I get to further build the linking campaigns? Since BLG does have limitations as well.
Alex
Hi Alex, yes I’ve heard of those products, the blueprint products, article blueprint and blog blueprint are on my do not use nor try list, so I’m all set with that whole package altogether, seeing as how the only other thing that’s part of it is the Link blueprint
Hi Daniel,
Thank you very much for your great advice!
I’ve been using Build My Rank from your recommendation for a few months now and have gotten exceptional results already on lower competition keywords. As I build out more blogs I look forward to investing in LinxBoss through your affiliate link.
Keep up the great work of reviewing these tools. You are offering a great service to the IM community!
Dean
Here’s my take on this service. It’s kind of expensive. Blog commenting, you can do thousands of them with Scrape Box in no time. Every one should have Scrape Box and its a one time charge.
Xrumer links, that can be useful, I still use DFB but MLB might be better. Web 2.0′s. If you don’t keep somewhat active and make new posts, they get deleted. If you make posts once in a while they stick. I still use Rank Builder, which admittedly is not very good software. But I have about 300 web 2.0s that I ocassionally post on, been there for months.
High PR profiles, again a one time charge, Nuclear Link Blaster, works great, plenty of high PR profile posts.
So, I guess this service is marginal in my opinion. The X-Rumer links are something I have to pay for anyone, so that’s worth it. I’m not sure if there are any tools that have a one time charge to submit to Web 2.0′s. If such a tool exists, then this service is not worth it for sure.
Blog posts –> Scrape Box
High PR profile –> Nuclear Link Blaster
Overall, doesn’t seem like a great deal to me for $199/month
James,
BLG is kind of automatic everything, just like Dan said, we could be more focus on building some more niche site when tasks like this can be automated. I use scrapebox too for blog commenting, but it kind of taking too much part of our time and effort to done with all the work. Unless you have staff of your own to do it or outsource the daily tasks of building some links to your site, I think BLG is nice tools heavy marketer should have.
Hey,
Hope all is going well – I am looking for a comparison with senukex and backlinks genie – drop me a message on skype
You can do more with SENukeX, for less. With BLG you’re getting volume links, with SENukeX it’s more like a link velocity approach. I recently cancelled BLG because I wasn’t doing much testing with it lately, been busy training for a marathon and I had it set to do commenting links every day because I couldn’t think of a good way to test it in an ongoing manner. I need to build new test sites in coming months before I can go back to ranking sites with nuke, blg etc…
Gonna try it. I hope its worth it. And is the 9,99$ a month not enough to start with?
I love the BLG system, though i manually build my tier 1 links i think this software is amazing and simple for anyone to build your level 2,3, and 4 with very little work…. must agree witht the last guy…. 9.99 for a decent package that will def help out ANYONE in ANY nitch
Hello Daniel,
Do you think does this software stills works ?? Corresponding to Google Panda 3.3 updates etc??
Waiting for your answer
Take care
I just started using the BLG and I love it so far. It is so easy to use. I really hope that the backlinks get indexed fairly easy. The comments it makes on blogs dont seem to bad IMO…They are kind of spammy but not horrible, at least they are all different kinds of comments and not just one across the board.
