Build My Rank service and how it works

in Build My Rank

I got a comment on one of my other blogs a few months ago from someone at Build My Rank asking for a review of their service.  So naturally, I decided to check it out after getting to know the owner and the service a little bit better.

NOTE: Nowadays, I try to contact these service owners and ask them questions their sales letters don’t reveal, and also to ascertain what their services might be lacking and offer suggestions like a consultant almost.  Some people listen, some don’t and most of the suggestions I give are already listed on the post on  Features that link building service owners should incorporate into their system.

Such was the case with Build My Rank (BMR) which looks to be a pretty solid network on the outside, but missing some crucial elements that make it made it pretty much like every other service out there (hint: no links to your links)

However, after a not-so-brief chat the owner of BuildMyRank was quick to implement those changes in about a week or so, which is pretty quick and promising.

So how does Build My Rank work?

1 piece of content = 1 link

Build My Rank works much like LinkVana and Blog Blueprint in that you need to create unique content for each link you want, but unlike those 2 services you’re not limited to 1 link per snippet.  With BMR you can put 1 link inside a 50-100 word snippet or 2 anchor text backlinks inside a 250-word article, or 3 links inside a 250-words-plus article.

The assumption here is that there’s more link juice passed towards your anchor text if the anchor text is spread out over more words on a page, which I’m not sure is necessarily true.  All that I do know is that the less outbound links on a piece of content, the more link effects there are, but if/when you’re writing 250 words of somewhat unique content, you want to get more than just one link out of it, especially when you’re writing unique content for each link.

The quality of Build My Rank’s network:

Their sites are reportedly ranging anywhere from Page Rank 1 or 2 to Page Rank 5 or 6, which is good indicator of a trusted site, but not necessarily and indicator of how well it works as a link building service/mechanism.  Owner reported that 90% of all content is/was indexed which is pretty good considering that it’s a network getting automated content published to it and dishing out outbound links at a pretty good clip.

Currently the network is 500-2000 sites strong and newly syndicated content is getting indexed in 3-4 minutes with their (my) new suggestions being implemented.  Build My Rank is also quite like B.L.S. in that it is (now) getting links to each and every new piece of content published on their network via RSS submissions, social bookmarking, auto-pliggs, and scuttle sites.

They estimate that your content will get 50-100 backlinks which does a few things that are important:

  • It gets links to your links
  • which ensures your content gets indexed
  • which assures you of getting  (somewhat) powerful and credited/indexed backlinks
  • and in the end it keeps their network of sites a quality network, all with a positive link juice pattern.

With networks like this, whether they’re large or small….you have to remember that they’re all giving out DoFollow backlinks, sometimes 1-3 times per piece of published content, therefore it’s quite easy for a network/service like this to become ineffective after a while.

Especially if these networks are NOT getting links to your links and simply cannot keep up with the huge influx of submitted and syndicated content being published to them.  Just imagine if you had a site linking out 3 times per post and getting 5 articles a day published to that site, that’s 15 outbound links a DAY….and if the content isn’t getting spidered well due to poor site architecture, then then issue of non-indexing of content will quickly rear it’s ugly head.

But I digress… that’s how most other services operate, but not Build My Rank.  Suffice to say they’re getting links to your links and have implemented measures to keep the network strong…

Submitting content to Build My Rank:

All content is subject to human editorial review, but they do accept spun content as long as it’s readable and of decent overall quality.

As mentioned previously you get 1-3 links per piece of content submitted, dependent upon length of article/snippet submitted.

You have to submit to them your domain url receiving links because they want to make sure their network is linking out to good quality sites (good idea).  Domain approval takes anywhere from 1-3 days.

Submitted content takes a day or two to be approved and hit the network.

Original opinion of Build My Rank:

Network is small much like BLS, but the links to your links make sup for that, and the fact that it’s manually reviewing content makes it a network that will provide valuable backlinks.

Results and more detailed opinions from using will be discussed in detail in part 2 of this Build My Rank Review ( so far so good after 30 days of testing it but second month will be the true test, so there will be some early results shown in this updated Build My Rank review.

i just finished a test of linkvana. actually, it should be very good. but it is really annoying thing to write several article with 100 words. it would make you mad.

I also heard BMR, and also know they have a trial acount, but i never tak action now,

For linkvana blurbs, go to library, take out a book on subject matter you want links for and just write content from book, will pass copyscape

Dan, what’s your experience when a service like this gains subscribers, does the manual reviewing time become a problem and take longer?

Are you or will you become an affiliate for this service?

In their home page I guess they are comparing their service and price to linkvana..

Thanks..Ric

Hey Ric, this service is much like Linkvana and BLS. My feeling is that it’s a one-person show and he’s pretty vigilant about reviewing manually what goes on his network, not really sure how this will change, if at all, if/when it gets more subscribers.

I COULD be an affiliate if I wanted, but won’t be getting an affiliate link until I see that it’s something people should look into, know what I mean?

There should be a verdict positive/negative/ neutral on this sometime soon, like w/n a week

Thanks,

Dan

Dan, I’m going to try the free trial, but I sent a few questions over last friday and haven’t heard back (It’s my way of testing response time). Nothing complicated, will see what happens this week.

OK, good luck, I suggest you write 10 unique blurbs or snippets and direct all those links to one url as best test…

I heard about BMR from a member at Wealthy Affiliate and quickly searched for reviews. If Daniel McGonagle has a review on BMR then it’s something that I should pay close attention to. I joined BLS through your link and had good results but I had to cancel because of the fee. I’m planning to join BLS again but since BMR is only $59/month, I figure I’d give them a try first. Right now I really need a service that provides one way quality links like LV and BLS. Looking forward to your next post on BMR. Thanks!

Thanks Raymond, btw there’s a combo package from the Blueprint guys that has Blog Blueprint, Article Blueprint, and Link Blueprint for 57/month too, which is cheap, but ArticleBlueprint didn’t do a thing for me so I guess you get what you pay for

Daniel, couple of things about BMR – You get 1 link per 150 word post. I’m trying the 15 day trial out. So far the turnaround is within 24 hours, meaning time of submission to approval and posting.

Once posted you can view where your article is posted. So far they have been indexed fairly quick, within 12 hours or so. Two PR2 and one PR1. It’s actually pretty simple to use, will see how the last 5 posts turn out.

One semi related question, any opinion about the backlink quality of sites that do website valuations? I came across a little tool that sends your url to several of these type of sights, then pings it. To my surprise the link showed up on the backlink report within a week, the site ranks 10K on alexa and is a PR4. What’s the catch?

Thanks

Hi Ric, I do believe that BMR allows for more than one link per post depending on length of the articles. The quick indexing is reflective of their good quality network, and some improvements they made to their system, base don some feedback from yours truly :)

Those website valuations sites are good for getting new sites indexed basically

Dan, yes your right, the rule is 1 link per 150 words. Is it Linx Boss or BMR that you suggested they add building links behind the backlinks?

Reply

Daniel McGonagle June 10, 2010 at 1:10 pm

BMR heeded my suggestions, which increased the indexing time of syndicated content.

LinxBoss folks already knew to do that and were working on their L4L before I even joined their service

Hey Dan, would you say if a link (article) hasn’t been indexed within a week then consider it dead?

Hi Ric, are you referring to something posted on our network? Shoot me an email at admin @ buildmyrank DOT com with any support questions. I think I know your account, and I just checked and don’t see anything that’s not indexed that was posted a few days ago.

Any how shoot me an email with any support questions as I’m sure Dan doesn’t want this turning into a support forum for BMR.

Some offer credit cards options

You don’t need a PayPal acct. Just a credit or debit card. When you click the subscribe button, you’ll see “No PayPal account? Pay using your credit or debit card” on the PayPal subscription page.

Hope this helps!

I put one article in BuildMy Rank (the free trial) april 21 and completely forgot about it.

Went back today, (june 30) I though I would check where they submitted my article exactly. They have a little “find links” button that open a page that shows my article published… on ONE site.

I guess what I want to know is, when did they apply your suggestions exactly ? because they are going from 59$ to like a 120 $ (sorry, I don’t remember the exact amount) so they seem pretty confident now…

Reply

Daniel McGonagle June 30, 2010 at 7:17 pm

Marie, one article = 1 link with BMR

They applied some of my suggestions within 2-3 days of our talk, and apparently it increased the indexing times for members’ syndicated articles

Great Site! Thanks. Do the links have to be relevant to the 150 word article? Can you add some sort of generic resource paragraph with target keywords at the end? Will this get auto-rejected? My topic is quite bland. The service sounds great and that is the only thing holding me back from subscribing. I understand you can pay per article. I choose not to go with that solution. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Better network of trusted sites compared to linkvana at a 3rd the cost – I’m in. We’ll see how it goes.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your review of BMR. I had a friend mention it to me so I may take a look at it. However, I had one question. Is an SEO consultant allowed to use BMR for their client projects? I heard that you were not allowed to share the BMR services, but would not this set-up be different if you are writing and publishing the content yourself?

Thanks,
Brad

I am disappointed with the BMR, some of my article put in blog pagerank 0. I read clearly in the BMR homepage that they will put our articles in blog that have pr 1-7. There are 27of my articles already put on pagerank 0,

Reply

Daniel February 3, 2011 at 2:32 am

Jack that’s weird for sure.

Are you referring to the article urls or the home page PR?

Reply

Build My Rank February 11, 2011 at 2:47 pm

PR is not a static number. There was a large PR update in January and 5% of our sites lost their PR. Almost 10% gained PR, but of course no one recognizes that.

When a site goes PR0, it’s disabled from future posts, but that obviously doesn’t effect what’s already there. In many cases we’ve been able to regain PR on these sites and they are later re-enabled.

I read you reviews and I tried the trial… what I’m confused is…

1 link = 1 post?

so if i want 100 backlinks i have to make 100 articles to post?

and if its 1 link = 1 post, why is there an option in the domain creation part, to chose 1 to 7-10 post per day?

Reply

Daniel February 9, 2011 at 1:55 pm

Yes, 1 link means 1 post, unless you submit lengthier content.

7-10 posts/day to a site means just that, that you’ll get 7-10 articles or snippets/day submitted, and in order to do so you will be 7-10 pieces of “link fodder” content to go out to the network…

Dax February 12, 2011 at 2:08 pm

So I have signed up for the trial 15 day period at BMR. I could not find out how hey charge you it said a monthly $59 fee. But do you pay for each post after that? Does this make sense? I e-mailed the too, have not heard back yet.

i have a few websites lingering around page 3-10 that just need enough juice to put them over the edge for higher ranking. i have decided to try Bmr to see if the hype is true. i will definitely post my results. Stay tuned.

Hi guys,

I am getting very good results with MBR. I have a PR5 website, and even 10 blog post per keyword (medium difficult) get me boosted on the top of page 2 even if the keyword was not indexed before. With 30-40 posts I rank top 3-8 on frontpage. Now I have about 60 keywords on frontpage google this way.

Today, I checked by BMR account, and due to the last update about 20% of the blogs are PR0. If they just lost their PR do to too less linkbuilding it seems still ok, but I am not sure if they got de-indexed or not. If they got de-indexed, or lost their PR per google penality I would be concerned. Can anyone say why the lots of PR0 blogs appear now?
Daniel, can you talk to BMR to see what happend?

Thanks
Tina

Adam July 6, 2011 at 7:07 pm

I honestly wouldn’t worry about the PR drops. Remember, PR is fluid and constantly changing on a daily basis – and Google only takes “snapshots” a few times per year of a site’s PR. So if you were getting results prior to the PR update that took place a couple weeks ago, then you should still see similar results even though you saw a sudden PR drop.

Tina July 7, 2011 at 8:30 am

Hi Adam,

yes, what you say is surley true. I am just worried if same things now happen as with linkvarna, and posts and blogs get de-indexed. I am very happy with BMR, it is an amazing service and really the most effective out there. My concerns about BMR:

a) Is it white hat, grey hat or black hat?
b) It will be very easy to spot a page that has 2000 links from posts that are 150-160 words.
c) Someone just need to sign up and get the blog-farm or check pages that use it.

Again, BMR is so effective, maybe I am scared to lose it, and therefore get these concerns. I am not sure if it works with any page the same way, but for me it really does wonders….

Is there a promotional codes for the BMR? I’ve seen BMR pricing that it cost around $2.50 per post. Does it mean for every live post a $2.50 will be deducted from your account?

Reply

Cheap BMR Posts September 23, 2011 at 12:06 pm

No, it won’t be deducted from your account. You don’t have to pay for their article writing services. You can either write your own articles or pay someone to do it, the fact is if you hire a writer, he or she will charge you way less than BMR does.
