Case study for profiles link building

by Daniel on January 15, 2010

in Profiles Link building

I decided to do a different kind of link building case study, one that doesn’t involve me testing out a link building service for 2-3 months then reporting back to you with the results.

This time around I’m just going to document my results from link building with profiles creations on high Page Rank sites with Dofollow attributes allowed in the links in your member profile.

I just signed up with a service/software that does some of this work for me but it remains to be seen what service works best and why… I’ve stated here before that profiles link building didn’t work well for me but I was dependent on a piece of software and a list of sites that were not going to perform well anyways

Regardless of which service and software to use, (if any)..the real question is,

  • Does link building with profiles work?
  • And if so, how powerful are these links
  • How many of these links are needed to achieve a certain goal?
  • Is using just this method alone enough?
  • Is it truly scalable?

The Profiles Link Building Case Study

  1. 6 sites
  2. All page 2 or 3 without backlinks (prior to this case study)
  3. Competition medium to low for the niches and keywords
  4. 130 backlinks will be generated per site just to domain name itself, these sites are small
  5. 65 backlinks a month per each of the 6 URLs for 2 months
  6. Using semi-automated software
  7. Using a links packet that hasn’t been hammered already

Bookmark this page, and check back every once in a while to see how things are going here

UPDATE: September 28, 2010

Profiles linking works great, for direct linking, for sending link juice towards satellite sites, for getting things indexed, for passing link juice down towards all the tiers in your linking machines, etc….  The best hands-free, no-tech-savviness-required service to use for this is Drip feed Blasts

Hey Dan,

Do you anything else about http://www.ezarticlelink.com/jvinvite.php?r=danielmcgonagle ? Just finished reading the sales page and it looks pretty neat… at least based on the sales page.

Do you know anyone that have tried it yet besides those testimonials?

Hi Elbert, I had to change the link you left to my JV aff link so people could get in if they wanted, and wouldn’t have been able to unless there was a referrer link.

EZarticleLink is new, will officially launch in March or April to mainstream world I think.

I got the lifetime Gold membership if I recall correctly, and haven’t used it yet since it’ be better to wait until it gets more attention and sites in the network.

I’ve spent more money testing services that didn’t work well for me like (Spin Distribute) so a one time fee for a lifetime membership plus it comes with a 3 month guarantee makes it a nobrainer for me.

I might have to write a post about it to explain things some more, too bad Kenneth only gave me 2 days notice (and on a Friday) to get the word out about JV invites.

Thanks,

Dan

P.S. Elbert, contact me on Skype about Link Dozer :)

Is this backlink building service http://www.ezarticlelink.com/jvinvite.php?r=danielmcgonagle better than unique article wizard?

Does building links directly to your website using unique article wizard still work well or would it be better to build links to article directories that are linking to my website?

Hi Karen,

Hard for me to say how well it works, or doesn’t work as I haven’t tried it yet, but I did get their lifetime Beta Gold membership which has a 3 months guarantee so I decided ot run with it for several reasons, the most important of which is you get a script to install which creates an article directory on your sites, and in turn, their system/service builds one way links to the articles hosted on your site.

Then you can point some links from that article directory to your main site to build link juic eon autopilot to your main sites, or whatever sites you want, really.

Plus, if you add some Adsense or other contextual ads on the article directories site, you should make some income from that, and it’s hands free.

Autopilot link building and income generation is possible here, and that’s the real reason I am recommending this without having tried it as a link building service.

Do you know if this backlink building service http://www.ezarticlelink.com/jvinvite.php?r=danielmcgonagle will accept plr articles or will they only accept unique articles?

Will this backlink building service http://www.ezarticlelink.com/jvinvite.php?r=danielmcgonagle accept articles that have already been accepted by ezinearticles.com?

Hey Dan,

I’m going to go try out Link Dozer, even if I don’t get a refund for testing… it’s very interesting software that I must take a closer look at…

Karen, with EZArticleLink you can use PLR articles, and even articles accepted by ezine, because you will be spinning those articles. There are videos in there that have a better explanation about the service. Signing up is free if you’re wondering.

Also, there’s actually a one time payment of a really insane cheap bargain if you go sign up now and upgrade to gold membership before the deadline. I probably will get it aswell. :)

Hey Elbert, thanks.

Like I mentioned on our Skype conversation, if I can’t publicly review the service then I won’t bother with the service.

EZArticleLink is something I got because it has the potential for building link juice to all your main sites via the article directories you’d append to your main domains. they say they’ll build one way backlinks to the articles you host on your article directory, so it should be easy enough to harness some of those incoming links to build link juice up towards main site with some directional linking.

Hopefully the article directory script is customizable enough so you can send links form directory categories toward relevant main site categories (example: read more articles on XYZ here > pointing to relevant category on main site)

Hey Dan,

Cheers

No, not really… I was using Sick Profile Maker and Xrumer and results weren’t great, this stuff is only good for getting links to your links, and not worth getting links to main domains of money sites with, in my opinion and base don experience and 3 months of testing

So, I’ve decided to go back to trying out profiles link building again, except this time I’m going to pay this service that build these links for me.

Elbery, good call there, there’s no real benefit to be gained by building profiles manually or semi-automatically, because even those profiles get deleted, despite all the extra effort that went into creating them.

The best way to ensure your profiles stick is if you participate in the forums where those profiles were create, basically to be as natural as possible with the profiles building, it’s just very time intensive…

I recently used this service that is pretty cheap considering the value obtained, you just give them the urls and keywords and you’re done, review on them coming out soon…

Looks pretty good value, I might try that service on a larger site, or some of my older bigger sites.

Having 1,000-5,000 backlinks pointing to a 5-15 pages websites doesn’t work well for me so far. :)

Daniel – firstly thanks for all your great advice. I have been devouring your site over the last couple of months. Any idea of when you may have the review done on “this service” as I would love to hear about your experience and whether it should be used only for building links for links or is okay for money site. Do you think that any manual or assisted manual profile link building is worth it?

Terri December 13, 2010 at 7:55 pm

Thanks Daniel. I have signed up for “this service” that you mention in your comment on Oct 30. How has your experience been with them. Do you still prefer DFB?

I have also considered “Sick” as an alternative. You mention on May 1st that your results weren’t great. Just wondering if you still feel that way.

I certainly couldn’t agree more that very little if anything to be gained from manual profile link building vs. automating the process.
The more the merrier (inserting a bit of a Holiday spirit). If slow and steady method works, power approach can get power results. Just let them be found on their own…

Dan, I have a question regarding tier 2 websites.

I understand the concept however what I don’t understand are some of the methods people are using. for instance, focus on qty rather qlty.

I’ll use an example – http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/www.articlemarketingrobot.com/a!links – the AMR site has over 4000 backlinks and ranks 2nd in google for the term article marketing (with over 38m pages) yet has a page rank of only 2.

So PR has everything to do with the quality of inbound links, so wouldn’t it make sense to focus in order high pr sites in order to build up the pr of the tier 2 sites? that way the link juice sent to your money site is of much improved value.

So in essence could you just focus on a small no. of tier 2 sites, build them up purely with high pr backlinks and then eventually link to your money site, rather than building 1000′s of links with no real emphasis on pr and then end up with a low pr backlink?

Terri, thanks for reminding me about this post. Profile slinking works pretty well and should be used as one of the necessary types of links you acquire.. They may not be pretty, or hard work to earn, but they do work and work well, so I suggest you use them as a workhorse type of links, used for direct linking, to index sites, to rank inner urls, to link to links etc….and do it in an automated fashion since there’s very little to be gained from the difference between manually build profile slinks and automated ones.
