Does Article Submission work as SEO to increase rankings?
Boy do I have a story for you. Back in November 2008, on the 20th to be exact, I began a startup business at http://www.article-submission-express.com. I offer a service for submitting articles to various directories on the internet. The articles submitted are unique to each directory. The job of this site is to sell our service to clients who would like to find a way to generate a bunch of one way links to their site, and thus increase their rankings in sites such as Google. As I write this article on December 7, 2008, I am ranked number 101 on Google for the term Article Submissions
I have studied several of the guru search engine optimizers to figure out how to get a site to the top of the search engines. I have a few websites, so I divided up the techniques I am using to find out what the best way to promote a site, and move it through the rankings is. For this particular site I have only used two methods. I bough a few relatively low cost Google advertisements, and I submitted articles just like this. The reason I am writing to you today is because I can say with certainty that article submission may be one of the fastest was to move to the top of the search engine results.
Just to see what was going on with my search engine rankings today and I found when I searched for article submissions that there were 15,200,000 search results. I thought to myself, wow, how can I ever rank in these results. I started clicking through them anyway just to see if there was a site, similar to mine, that would be in the results. When I got to page 11, I found there was a purple link, like I had been on the site before. Upon closer look I found that it was my website! After just two weeks and three days, I got to position 101. I also have to mention that I was indexed by Google in 3 days after creating the site. I would say article submission generates incredible results, especially when done right.
I have studied tons of experts on search engine optimization. I have studied Aaron Wall, Brad Fallon, Brad Callen and more! These guys know what they are doing. I started experimenting with several sites doing the techniques they are doing, and I have to say that Google Ads and Article Submission have gotten me more results than any other option.
I have used code based and black hat techniques like TrafficBoosterPro which I will say worked well, but only for a few days. I was ranked number 60 for one of the most competitive keywords on the internet, I was so excited, then out of the blue ALL of my rankings disappeared. That site has never recovered, I work daily trying to promote it and it doesn’t move. I have also tried to build reciprocal links with other sites. Some say this works, some say this doesn’t work. I tend to agree that it doesn’t work. I see no results from the reciprocal links at all. Plus I always have to work to see if people are linking to me. To top that off, I build two similar sites that contained the same key words, built reciprocal links to one, and nothing to the other, for some very obscure key words, the one with no links outranks the one with reciprocal links. The one with no links, is outranking the one with reciprocal links and it is optimized for certain keywords.
So far on my current site, http://www.article-submission-express.com, I have done two things. I bought Google ads that convert to promote my site until I can get a good organic listing. For those who don’t know Organic Listings are the ones in Google that are free, and you don’t pay per click. Then I submitted articles just like this one to as many directories as possible with a link back like you see below in my resource box.
In all of my studies I have never had this much success. I haven’t used press releases which, by the way, I believe to work wonders, because of the high cost. I didn’t use any link building tactics, or join any link exchanges. I haven’t even traded any links, nor have I even provided code or an option for people to link to my site. I have not used a social networking site like Digg or any other similar site to promote myself. You may wonder why not. It may increase my rankings. Right now, however, my goal is to use a controlled experiment. If I begin doing all these other things, I could not have wrote this article today telling you that this works. I am going to continue doing what I am doing and monitor all the results. Right now, I am at position 101 in Google SERPs so it makes it pretty easy to monitor the results of my actions. You know, the next article I release will probably be a report on what this one did for my rankings.
As always I wish you all the best of look in your search engine optimization efforts. If you are at all interested in having articles submitted, you can find submissions services like mine or my competitors, or you can do it manually. My website, as I said earlier, offers this service and there is a link in the resource box. I do want you to understand and take away from this article, that article submission and writing works, I am not trying to promote my service, but the method in which I optimize my website.

i have had a lot of success getting my sites ranked for the relevant keywords using Marc Ilgen’s Neurolinker backlink generation service. but there are others around that do basically the same job, like Linkvana. they seem to be effective for search engine positioning.
Why don’t you take advantage of social networking? And other ways to build links?
Sure – I can see this as something of an experiment , but I’m a firm believer of – using whatever I can to get traffic and results.
I’m not really a big fan of link building services that force you to lose all your links if you decide to leave their program, like NeuroLinker does, and like 3waylinks.net does. Also, if you get a limited number of links per domain per account, then you still might need to get even more links to rank well for competitive terms, sometimes up to tohusands of backlinks, not just 250 or so.
PAUL, social bookmarking surely helps with getting backlinks, however they’re de-valued, or valued less than other links, which is why they have a sperate category inisde your cPanel, in AWSTATS section. Plus most social networking sites have turned to NOFollow for their backlinks and isnce those links are so easy to come by, it merely raises the bar for everyone else.
Right now I am testing out NextGenLinks to see what effect that service has on some of my new niche sites
Thanks,
Dan
