Does Deep Linker Pro Directory Submitter really do deep linking?

in Directory Submitters

Deep Linker Pro is an automated directory submission tool that submits your site urls to thousands of directories.

Preamble/soliloquoy:

Do you groan when you hear or read about “directory submissions”?  Folks, you can’t overlook links from directory submissions, there’s a reason why so many firms still do this.  Good directories are on very aged domains, run via manual review, and have been around a long time so submissions here will help build up your websites’ rank trust/search engine trust.

The links are usually permanent, and the pages are usually with PR, but I am not sure if these are DoFollow links or not.

So when it comes to ranking better, I’m not sure that directory submissions help that much, but I do know that in the overall grand scheme of things, it cannot hurt to outsource or automate some directory submissions for permanent urls placement.

Side Note: This is why I got excited about the Traffic Bug service, since it did some directory submissions for you automatically, but the service was crap back then, and not going to get into it again now, just wanted to emphasize that automated directory submissions is the way to go since they provide minimal ranking benefits.

So, Deep Linker Pro by Josh Spaulding, what’s it do?

It does automated directory submissions, but the main reason I got this was for the deep linking.  After all, the main url of most sites is what’s getting the most backlinks anyways, so why bother with anemic directory submissions links when you can switch focus over to automated backlinks via deep linking directory submissions?

Sounds like a cool idea, right?

Well, Josh’s Deep Linker Pro only submits to 4 directories that allow for deep linking. That’s terrible, that sucks, but they say they’re working on it.

Never should have made this tool or at very least named it Deep Linker Pro if only 4 websites accept deep links.

Josh is a good guy, I’ve seen him around some marketing forums and know him through other people but he probably doesn’t know me, or might if he gets Google Alerts for his name or Deep Linker Pro.  All I can say is that Josh knows his SEO and his marketing and has been telling his buyers of DLP that more directory submissions sites will be added that allow for deep linking, but it’s been a month or so since I bought this and the # of deep linking directories is still at 4.

So don’t get it, is my opinion in case I wasn’t clear enough.  The true value to this concept is automating links to inner pages or urls via deep links for directory submissions sites but it does a poor job of that, sad to say.

Sorry to hear this, the sales page claims something like 200-400 directories. What would be your alternative to get the same results?

    Thanks.

Ric, I’m not big on doing directory submissions, but not saying they’re 100% worthless either. Deep Linker Pro seems to be a cut above the rest. You could do more with directory submissions manually, but for what it’s worth might as well do it in automated fashion so you don’t spend too much time doing this kind of thing

    Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your honest comments about my product. You’re right, there should be MANY more sites int he deeplink list. Version 2.0 was completed last week and just about done with testing. It contains approximately 100 deep link directories and nearly 1,000 general directories. It also has multiple title support and several other new features.

As a paying customer you will be receiving this update free of charge =)

I think you’ll really like it. You should send me an email sometime. Maybe we can do a JV sometime. It looks like you’re deep in the link building niche, which is very interesting.

    Thanks,
    Josh

Hey Josh, thanks for stopping by, looking forward to seeing the REAL Deep Linker in action :)

Getting deep links form directories that actually stick would be almost as good as getting links from all these middleman blog networks, I think, because these links would stick and most likely show up in a backlinks checker. We’ll see, I don’t proclaim to be very knowledgeable about directory submissions, due to simple fact that I’ve always shunned that stuff for article syndication linking.

No problem. Thanks for reviewing DLP. Directory links are still very effective. The problem with most submitters is that they don’t stay on top of their lists. It’s not uncommon for 200 sites in a list of 1,000 to become inactive. When so many sites become inactive these developers get tired of managing it and their submitters just suck.

I have a full time employee keeping my lists clean and up to date and no other submitter that I know of does deep linking like DLP.

I hope to have version 2 released today or tomorrow.

Nice talking with you. We should chat sometime. You seem to be pretty a pretty knowledgeable guy.

I am glad to see you guys talking everything over and laying it on the table. I have been seriously thinking about purchasing DLP but have been very cautious especially these days when things are hard. I am new to the business but eager to learn. I spent 35 years in the off-line retail business and owning my own business I quickly learned to look everything over good.
You guys have caught my attention and I will be dropping by more often Thanks For All the Info :)

Josh says in his video that as allot of directories ask for a recipricol link he has provided a link which you can add to the recipricol box.

The link is to his website and says that it is no followed but surely this is leaving one big footprint for Google to see exactly who used this tool to submit?

Hi Mark, I’m not sure I understand what you mean by “The link is to his website”

The only links in the links.html file are to the directories in our lists. None of my own links appear in there and if they did they would not benefit in any way.

Google does will completely ignore the links.html file because it contacts nofollow tags. Matt Cutts has confirmed this several times. Google simply ignore pages with this like they do not exist. And even if they didn’t, Google doesn’t have a problem with directories. They even have their own directory. Using a directory submitter isn’t against Google’s TOS.

    Hope that helps.

P.S. Still working out issues with version 2, but hope to have it out ASAP.

I still use directory links sometimes , I think it was Jeff Johnson who recommended it if you got stuck on the serps pages and not moving up or down and it does help sometimes, not always though. But then my links are kinda spammy so traditional links may be diluting them a bit!

Thanks Louis, if/when I’m stuck in SERPs I just do more of what I did to get there, and more of what I hadn’t done yet for that particular URL, whether it be social bookmarking, dir submissions, profile linking etc…. I also try to keep in mind that it does help to be realistic and let a domain age for a few months, too

Hi again thanks for the reply. You know I am actually thinking of a particular site in the tooth whitening niche that i was continually on position 28, and I was using SENuke to get there (yes I read your page!) and the more I nuked the more stuck I was. I was getting related trafiic but not for my chosen keywords. I remember Jeff Johnson saying if this happens pay for a directory submission to 100 seo friendly directories and so I did a search, found about 20 and submitted and was listed in 10, and 2 weeks later I was jumped to the first page. One could argue that my senuke links needed to mature , or they were made too fast, but I like to believe it was the seo directories.
SB I use only for my backlinks never my site (except delicious), but I have bookmark demon so perhaps it is too difficult to control with that software.I am a great believer in backlinking my backlinks, not to reinforce them but just to guarantee they get found and stay found. I remember Matt Cutts once mentioning briefly discoverability, and I assumed that he meant that my site should be found on as many different websites as possible and for this reason I bought the directory submitter gold, which I had to edit to make the submissions more streamlined only to sites that do publish and are free and require no reciprocal, mostly because it is a semi automated tool so it is a days work.
For this reason I will have a look at DLP if it does automate effectively and get a fair return of links then I think it must do some good?
If you think there is something wrong with my reasoning Daniel, feel free to correct me I value your input. Louis

I was watching one of the video’s showing how it works, you mentioned that we have to up load the program to our server? We can’t run this off our computers, we have to run this off a server?

    Hi Daniel,

It’s a desktop app, so no. There is a links file that contains links to all of the directories that require a reciprocal link. That file has to be upload to each site that is submitted.

    Hope that helps.

I purchased the Dep link Pro and have not been very satisfied with it and yes I’m waiting for more dep link to be added. I have found 50 directories that will accept deep links, so what’s the catch why have they not been added???

Shame DeepLinkerPro isn’t cross-platform compatible with Apple Mac (short of running Windows VM). There’s a huge need for a Directory Submitter for OSX. Some of the Cloud/Web based services do in a pinch at a pay-per price. But would be nice to have a standalone submission app that runs on AdobeAir like some SEO – SEM tools do.

I consider Directories to be a critical leg that props up my sites. They tend to be far more permanent than so many other back-link tactics dujour.
