My Article Network The BAD – Part 3 of the My Article Network Review

in My Article Network

Part 3 of this My Article Network Review series will cover what I deem are the things that are lacking in My Article Network’s service.

Quick note: My overall opinion is that this is a good service, but I want to tell you what to expect here for results, and also that EVERY linkbuilding service has its flaws.

My Article Network – the BAD

  1. Free articles
  2. Adding sites to the network (minor issue)
  3. Link Effectiveness (major issue)
  4. The “Same sites” issue (major issue)
  5. Disappearing hyperlinks? (minor issue)

#1- The free articles you could receive:

As part of their operation, My Article Network allows you to add your sites to their network of 10,000 (or 20,000) blogs to enable you to receive topic-relevant content.  When you add sites to their network, there is an option to receive articles that are only 30% unique or more.

However, some people in the marketing forums have been saying that this uniqueness indicator isn’t accurate when the articles are run through CopyScape, a uniqueness checker for content.

Therefore, if you accept some free content to be published on your site, you aren’t really getting 30% unique content most of the time.  Now, this may be misleading, or an error on their part and in the long run it may not really matter since dupe content is a bit of a myth.

Regarding the quality of the articles, the relevant ones that I accept have been decent quality and I have no issues there.  Most of the people using this service know that quality content gets approved quicker and becomes more effective due to being published more often…

Summary- the free content is good, but don’t be fooled by the whole “30% unique” thing, and having dupe content on your site won’t hurt you that much, and only adds value to your site is the content is relevant to your site topics.

#2 – Adding sites to the network - As I mentioned in Part 2, the video tutorials are great but it is confusing when you try to add sites to their network to get free content because of where they tell you your WordPress Remote Publishing API path, or Key is… and you will need that information if you decide to add sites to their network in order to receive free semi-unique and relevant content.

Since I will probably recommend My Article Network as one of the top recommended service to use, I will make a video and send that to you if you decide to join via my aff link.

Granted, this is a very minor issue because it can get worked out eventually, but the less hassle you experience the better.

All the other videos are good, but if they do lack in one area, I got that covered for you…  :)

#3 – Effectiveness of the backlinks —-

This is what it really comes down to, isn’t it?  You join a linkbuilding service to generate links, not to get free content or whatever (those are just the “extras” really).

I find that the links are quite anemic, and lacking any real power when compared to BackLink Solutions, Unique Article Wizard, and LinkVana.

Here’s the list of terms that I tried to rank well for using just My Article Network

URL keyword) -  # of MAN links –   Changes/Results

Automated List Building – 50+ and growing -    Went from page 2 to page 1

Automated List Building – 50+ and growing -   Went from bottom of page 1 to middle of page 1

Blog Writing Tips 75+ (max of 100)     Went from bottom of page 2 to middle of page 1 and now back to bottom of page 2, disappointing)

automated marketing systems 100+ backlinks     Went from page 7 to page 2 for a while, at one point page one as indented listing then it disappeared completely…

Automated List Building -      55 backlinks     Went from middle of page 2 to middle of page 1

Automated List Building -      55 backlinks     Went from bottom of page 1 to middle of page 1.

NOTE: This is medium to easy term to rank well for and the blog post does better than the KW-rich, one-page site/domain name.  Something to think about when you’re targeting long-tail keywords (don’t need a domain name to rank well for long-tails).

The list goes on and on here, suffice to say the links are not powerful

“Same sites” issuewhen you submit articles to My Article Network, you can set a limit on how many versions get published.

So, if you write and rewrite an article and set it to only go out to 100 sites, the first 100 sites that accept your articles will be linking to you.

This is a cause for concern because if there are 100 sites in the network auto-accepting and auto-publishing your articles, then the same 100 sites will be linking to you every time, thereby lessening the effectiveness of the network.

With 10k or 20k sites in their network, it’s a crying shame to not be able to tap into the vast amount of resources here.

My Article Network should give members the option to “leapfrog” their submissions so new sites are hosting your articles, and if there aren’t any takers after a few weeks, then cycle back to have the articles published on whatever sites will accept them, but give other different site owners a chance to receive and publish your articles so you have a more widespread linkbuilding campaign taking place, with links coming in from a wider variety of IP addresses.

After some sites link to you once, subsequent backlinks from those sites become less effective if they’re linking to the same sites and domains of yours.

#5 – Disappearing Hyperlinks in Articles?

A lot of my articles were getting the hyperlinks stripped out of them inside the My Article Network membership interface. This happened only during my first month with them and I’ve been pretty vigilant about it ever since.  It could have been my fault but I had my staff double-checking the links as well.  So the disappearing hyperlinks isn’t really a negative thing about “MAN” since it’s most likely user error but you are fore-warned to be vigilant about testing your article hyperlinks prior to publishing and after they gone out, too.

The other kinds of disappearing hyperlinks…

If you’re too promotional in your article or your article is low-quality then some of your backlinks will get stripped by the people accepting your articles.  And many people won’t accept your article sunless their “30% unique” according to MAN, so you need to rewrite these articles to 100% + uniqueness in title and body in order for the articles to get accepted by more sites.

This next post will discuss why I recommend My Article Network at all, despite all the GOOD and BAD things listed here

Elbert, how is BackLink Solutions treating you? Here’s what I got in my gmail account the other day from someone who joined at the associate level,

Dan,
BLS is for no better word is nothing short of amazing.

I had associates membership just until few days ago for 1 month ago and I saw my google page one rankings happen in 1 month. Now with the full membership, my rankings are climbing daily. It’s really amazing.

Thanks!

Anyhow, I hope BLS is providing similar results for you as well.

About MAN and AMA, they’re definitely running off the same framework. Here’s what the subject line looks like for new articles notifications sent from MAN to my inbox:
