Site Title Keyword Density Considerations

in On Page Optimization

Sometimes just when you think you know your s**t when it comes to SEO you realize you got too comfortable and there are still things you’re not doing as well as you could.

3 Things we’re going to discuss here in the next few posts:

  1. Over stuffing keywords in site titles
  2. AllInOne SEO changes you might want to make
  3. Changing Permalinks, should you do it?

The last 2 posts discussed site evolution and how and why you want to change your site title to keep up with things…

Very recently I had the names of all the link building services I reviewed in as part of the site title because that helped the main domain url rank well for those terms, but also created indented listings, (double listings, double SERPs,whatever you want to call it).

Once again, I use and change site titles when I wanted to rank well for something, but I tried not to do it too often since the title gets appended to posts if you have AllInOneSEO set up that way.

Point being… you can change your site title to manipulate SERPS, but if there are too many keywords in the title then you’re keyword stuffing your posts and pages, especially if they have same keywords in post title and post slug (url) as are in site title.

As your site gets stronger you won’t have to rely on this short-term method for gaining immediate serps and double page ones…  The guys over at Stomper.net actually have a video on the scientific method for getting indented listings that has to do with tag density and keyword density (skip to 8:33 to skip the fluff and learn how to get these double listings on demand).

So how do you know if your site is overstuffing and what to do to fix it?

This is where we get into domain names, their inherent SEO keyword value, or their lack thereof, and what to do with keyword rich domain names that are causing your post and pages to be overstuffed.
