Video Marketing do you have any questions on this?

in Video Marketing

I’ll be doing an interview soon with a video marketing/production Pro, with a capital P.  He knows his SEO, his specialty is with video production and distribution, he’s done work for CNN, and other big-time companies.

What are your questions about video marketing, and seo for video marketing?

The expert will be reading this page and we will try to address anything I’ve left out below, please add to this list

Here’s some that I’ve prepared:

What are the top 25 sites to submit videos to,

Should we submit videos to more than 25 places?

Is there a decreased rate of return by doing more than 25 submissions?

How to optimize videos for the search engines?

Should I use the keywords I want my video to rank for in the first 8 seconds of the video (oops there’s a slip, I was told the answer already)

Can we spin videos, does that work?  If so, how?

If we shouldn’t spin videos, then what’s the point of submitting duplicate videos to all the same sites?

What kinds of videos should be used for press releases, for main pages of websites, for product pages?

Can we upload to a video channel the transcript (words) of the video content as a comment to help with the search engine rankings of the videos?

Should we create video sitemaps and host videos on our site as well as on the major video sites?

I can’t think of any other questions off the top of my head, can you?  If so please add them here so we can really pick his brain.

Question: Should we do captions with our videos?
Question: Does captions help with SEO rankings?
Question: If you make a video from the content of an article/blog post can you get hit with a duplicate content penalty?
Question: Which are more engaging having pictures and a voice talking or having a person in front of a camera?

If we did a video on every blog post, could that improve the rank of that post?

What’s the standard length of time for a marketing video?

Should we syndicate our video to all the major video sites, ie. YouTube, Vimeo, etc or just submit it to YouTube?

Do you build backlinks to your videos? If so, what backlinking methods do you use?

Hey this is Tim McKee of the Video Editor and thank you for your great questions. Daniel and I are going to cover all of this in our upcoming interview but let me answer one of the questions now. “If you make a video from the content of an article/blog post can you get hit with a duplicate content penalty?” The answer is generally no, especially if you follow a couple of simple rules. First, it’s highly unlikely you’d take a transcript of a video and resubmit it as an article without at least some minor editing to make it read like an article. But, even if you sent the transcript out word-for-word it’s unlikely because they are in different content forms. I always recommend that you re-purpose any written content into a video or video into written content – an easy 2 for 1 plus you get an extra back link. Remember that the SERPs love good, original, value-added content so, if you made a video, take the transcript and expand it a little and submit it as an article, as a blog post and to your social media properties. Remember to back link to your original video and suddenly, from 1 video, you’ve built a small network of related, value-added content linked to the original. That’s the way to stretch your marketing dollar. I look forward to answering more of your video-marketing or vseo questions soon.

What’s the minimum length of a video to be effective to help the SEO of my website’s page? Is a 5 second video any less effective than a 20 minute production strictly speaking as far as helping SERPs/SEO performance (not user interaction stuff)?

If I have a video on youtube, and then embed that video into my blog content, does that actually help the page’s SEO? Or do I need to create a unique video and run it off my own server/Amazon S3 for it to hold a lot of weight? Again, strictly from an SEO perspective and not … longer visitor time on page benefits, engagement … and all that.

Thanks guys, and looking forward to this as usual!
